The Chicago Pedway Tour
$23.00 for a 90-minute tour.
Mondays and Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Fridays & Saturdays at 1:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.
THIS TOUR IS ALL INDOORS! It really is. If you’re wondering, is it really? It is.
Your second question may be – what the heck is the Chicago Pedway anyway?
The Pedway is the unsung hero of Chicago. It’s an all-indoor series of hallways and walkways that keep Chicago warm (and cool in the summer!) and dry.
When we start to dig into the Pedway and examine it – it reveals itself to be a fascinating study. This tour will talk about the Pedway, the history of it and how to use it, but you also get a really great insight into the city. We talk about all kinds of facets of Chicago and it’s architecture and history.
The Pedway is not a well-known part of the city, a mystery to even the most seasoned natives. It will challenge your logic, your senses and definitely your sense of direction.
The Monday/Thursday/Friday Pedway tours are different from the Saturday Pedway tour. They’re both fun and weird, but they’re different for sure.
Monday/Thursday: 10:30AM – 12:00PM/Friday at 1:00PM Start at The Thompson Center – 100 W. Randolph
Saturdays: 1:00PM Start at The Fairmont Hotel – 200 N. Columbus
This 90-minute tour and is $23 per guest.
It’s about a mile of walking, there are lots ups and downs, lots of escalators and some stairs, revolving doors, etc. If you have a walker, stroller, etc., be aware that the pedway can get complicated with it’s ups and downs. If you have any questions or concerns about that, just give me a buzz!
