Spring is here (really, it is, this IS spring) and all kinds of birds are buzzing and metaphors mixing. So today I will let you know about a couple of awesome things to do and buy and see and smell and touch and taste (really just see or buy, but still):
I have a new friend, I met her on Twitter. Say what you like, but I’ve made lots of new friends from Twitter and Melisa is just the greatest. She came on a tour and we’re now fast friends. Melisa is also awesome, because she too just finished a book! YAY MELISA! Her book is called “Chicken in the Car and the Car Won’t Go” and she’s doing an awesome contest. If you pre-order her book, you’ll be in the running for a 30$ Target Gift Card. YAHOO! Her book is a travel guide for Chicago for people with teenagers. Now that, is awesome. You can get in on the contest and check out her book here.
Also in the awesome category is my husband! YAY! About a year ago he co-created, co-produced and generally co-rockeditout an improv show called THEMS. THEMS is a classic zombie story set in space. All your favorite characters are there, the surly and lonely Captain, the eager young buck on his first spacetrip, the hard-nose woman who has to keep up with all the dudes…they’re all there. The story is loosely outlined, but the players improvise the whole show. What’s excellent is, THEMS is playing tonight for the Chicago Improv Festival! YES! Show is at 7:00PM at the Playground Theater at Belmont and Halsted, and it’s going to be awesome. Here are the deets for that.
And one last get up on, the playful water fountains in this city. I was in Water Tower the other day and theirs is just the best. I remember when it went in and how I loved riding the escalator, I still do. Also, the water fountains at the Crystal Ballroom at Navy Pier are so freaking excellent.
Oh and one other get up on that is totally not Chicago-related? Donkey Kong Jenga. Just saying.
Here’s a video (not mine) of the Water Tower fountain:

Aww! You are MOST AWESOME, lady!
no you, no YOU!
